The "Ostseebad Warnemünde" is a famous district of the City of Rostock and Germany's most important cruise port even before the City of Hamburg. The port is also the port of call for Princess Cruises from Germany. Warnemünde was once a small fishing village and has retained its old charm to this day. The small canal "Der Alte Strom" with its fishing boats and passenger ships, lovingly renovated historic buildings, the endless promenade, maritime pubs, the famous pier and of course Warnemünde's most famous landmark - the old lighthouse and the prominent tea pot - invite visitors to stay and relax. Before your cruise departs from Germany, you can admire the view of Warnemünde from the panorama café of the 64-metre-high Hotel Neptun.
Warnemünde, with its maritime flair, welcomes you to arrive a few days in advance before your cruise departs in the Baltic Sea and to explore the Baltic Sea beach as well as the sights of the port city. The area around the port is also worth a visit. The state "Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" is known for its more than 2,000 castles and estates, more than 2,000 lakes, its coastline of about 2,000 kilometers and its numerous, impressive cities - here you will surely find the right thing for every culture and nature lover!
Discover Rostock - the largest city in the state of "Mecklenburg". The Hanseatic city invites you with its numerous shops and its beautiful old town to go for a nice city stroll. The university town on the Baltic Sea is also located on the "Rostocker Heide"-nature reserve. The northernmost heath area of Mecklenburg covers 6000 hectares, the largest coastal forest in Germany. Especially enjoyable here is the mixture of fresh sea air and the climate of the coniferous forest.
The Hanseatic City of Wismar, which has been mostly preserved, is one of the most beautiful cities in the federal state and was declared to a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. This makes Wismar one of the most popular destinations for trips to the Baltic Sea.
Schwerin as the smallest state capital in Germany was the seat of government of the dukes of "Mecklenburg" for centuries and is beautifully nestled between seven lakes. The Schwerin Castle, which was built in the Loire style and is today the seat of the state parliament, is absolutely worth seeing.
