Situated in the south of the main island of Honshu, Kobe is the fifth largest city in Japan with a population of 1.5 million inhabitants. The port counts among the biggest seaports of the country and is home to Kobe Port Tower, the major landmark of the city. Other attractions include nearby Mount Rokko (930 meters), hot springs and a sake brewery. Kobe is also a gateway to Kyoto, Japan's ancient imperial capital.

Kobe Port Tower is a 108 meter high hyperboloid structure. Its observation deck offers fantastic views over the city and its surroundings at a height of 90 meters.
Kyoto
The ancient imperial capital of Japan is also the cultural and spiritual center of the country. Numerous well-preserved shrines, temples and palaces show the former glory and many of these buildings are listed as World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO.
